Hello,

Can some one shine his light and expertise on this WWI time fuze. It was found in the vicinity of Antwerp, Belgium and could be fired from one of the fortresses around the city. It has time markings on it till 20 seconds and reads on two places 91. On the nose also the lettres EP are engraved in an ellipse. Time fuze for 75mm shell containing lead balls? I have this thing lying in my collection for 20 years... unidentified.

TXS in advance,

it's a belgian 20 sec. "Fusee a temps de place" produced in license from Ecole de Pyrotechnie (EP). It indeed corresponds to the Krupp M.1879 time fuze. "Notes on german, typical french and belgian fuzes" says that it was used on shells for 12 cm gun, 15 cm mortar, gun and howitzer. There is a similar looking fuze with 28 seconds graduation which was used on field artillery shells 7,5 and 8,7 cm. Many other countries used such fuzes like the Netherlands, Denmark, Argentine, Turkey, China, Romania...
