WW1 American (?) base fuze identification

good evening, I wonder if someone could identify the base fuze shown in the attached photos. It is 44mm long, 24mm in diameter and is stamped 'BSC Lot 17 V within a circle (with a dot each side of the V) and is dated 1917.

I assume BSC is the Bethlehem Steel Company so is it for an American shell and what calibre - 57mm?

Hello,

Your fuze really looks like a base fuze for 37mm Bethlehem.

French used this kind of shells during WW1.

Yes, Bethlehem Steel Company, 37x135R used in Hotchkiss and other USnaval guns and in the Mclean auto gun bought by Russia.
 
ah, I hadn't thought of that. Quite a large fuze for a small calibre round. Many thanks
