Can anyone correctly ID this 15cm shell ? I think it is a WW1 German APC or APCBC. Its clearly missing the ballistics cap and the base plate. Any help would be much appreciated.DSCF7365.jpgDSCF7367.jpgDSCF7369.jpg

Hello,

Your shell looks like a 15cm Spgr L4.3/ Bdz (mit Haube)

Hi Minenaz16
Thanks for the details, that looks like a close match to the 15cm German Navy AP. Do you think my shell is WW2 or WW1 ?
Cheers

Hi Minenaz16

I have another shell , slightly larger with the ballistic cap still attached, although not quite as aerodynamic as the previous example. Do you think this is a WW1 17cm Spgr L/4.7 ?

Cheers

Hello,

Looks like the 17cm Psgr L/3 for German Navy (Kriegsmarine) WW1 and WW2 (Gun SK L/40).

To be sure when you don't know the nomencalture L/(a) you take the length of the shell fuzed and it's : diameter x (a). So the length of the 17cm Psgr L/3 is about 17x3 (510mm).

Your 15cm (first thread) was used during WW2 but I don't know about WW1.

Regards
