European bison is native to Europe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_bison. It was arboreal and much larger that American bison. Unfortunately, ammo users and collectors wiped them off this planet, so they were thought to be extinct. They were related to aurochs, I think.

The wild animals were all killed, only 12! animals able to breed were held in captivity. Since 1923 a rescue program is running.
