Specialist Auctions

YES! I do wish they would get their act together. It's very annoying for bidders. And the poor guys trying to sell stuff must be furious. I hope they are too embarrassed to charge fees for their services.

T.

yes!...so embarrassed that the fees have gone up to 5%!!

Thoughts from a former SA bidder/buyer... MEH?

-Can't login
-The search option returns CLOSED auctions (returns more closed than open)?
-No advanced search option
-Auction Time Left = 'Closed' but Status = "Open'?
-Looks like [Censored]
-"Lots more features", LOL!
-MYSQL Errors

Kinda makes you appreciate eBay?

The size of the picture is not really a problem, if you are unable to log in and buy or sell anything.
Exactly what I think also. There's a "VIEW" menu at the top of the Explorer window that can enlarge all to 400% but I just use 200. They are a bit blurry but, at my age, so's everything ! I really like having all the categories listed on the left so you can go directly to what you want anytime. I'm only a buyer right now and can't address seller concerns but, I would think, if the BUYER is happy with the layout then the SELLER should be happy !
Now if only I could log in . . . ; )
Regards,
Bill

Bill - 100% WRONG ! If the seller isnt happy he wont sell his items on the site. Its irrelevant what the buyer thinks if there are no items to buy. A site is created to attract SELLERS - the buyers will visit regardless. As a Seller, I am sick of this pathetic site. The owner has never addressed communication issues between sellers and problems they face. Complete incompetance and 5% Comm and additional fees for insert times and category listings ! Its time for a Militaria Auction Site Only, when a good one becomes available every single seller / dealer will dump SA over night. It stinks. Anybody not agreeing with these comments has no idea what they they are talking about.

I dont care if my opinions are outspoken, I say it as it is and I know from speaking to dozens of fellow sellers they all think the same thing. Obviously Militaria is a very small part of SA so they probably dont give a damn about just one category but it would be hard to imagine all other category advertisers dont feel the same way.

I have tried to log on, to no avail. I have tried to re-set password but that did not work and so I tried to re-register but could not as my email address is already registered with them . Have emailed to sort this out but have had no reply. I guess I just need to wait like everyone else.....
Cheers

Actually if it wasn't for the ordnance category SA would have gone tits up a long time ago(just compare the listing totals of ordnance to the rest of the categories!),we ordnance collectors have kept this(SA) site alive for a long time now.
The other problem SA is going to have,if and when it ever is functional, is going to be the sheer volume of traffic that it will have at first and most of us will not be able to use it until things quieten down....I also would like to see a ordnance only auction site but it doesn't look like it will happen :tinysmile_cry_t:

smle2009 - What was the point of your last addition to this thread? If you read from the beginning you will see I mentioned Darrol and the good he has done in the creation of Militaria’s Ordnance category to the original SA.

It has NOTHING at all to do with buyers going and keeping SA “SITE ALIVE” - why on earth would you make such a stupid statement? We are dealing in electronic transactions not a market stall, you do not have to see foot traffic to justify the rental cost on the internet. If there were no transactions to a particular category it would make 0% difference. Do you not live in the real world or are you so out of touch that you do not understand the ridiculousness of what you have said.

Buyers are there all the time dependent upon marketing meta-tags etc. Again I state it is the quality of the sellers that matters period. A site attracts quality sellers if it is a site which advertises their items well, does not have high fees, is easy to navigate and has good communications - the new site has none of these. The old site at least had better layout, and advertised items well.

Why bother to add to this thread if there is no point whatsoever you are making. Why can’t you simply agree to the incompetence and greed of the SA owner ? Don’t comment when you are not intelligent enough to understand the issues.

I have registered again using a different email address, registration works fine and at the end it says you can now log in using your new account, but when you do all you get is "The login details you have submitted are invalid Please try again" try again and again and again nothing, if you then try a password reset on your new account and try to log in, you again get details invalid. The whole login system on SA is completely screwed up, It appears that a couple of people have listed some new items ???, I think everyone is frustrated by the complete lack of any decent response or action from the site owners. The problem is not going to be sorted until sometime next week or if ever. I do think that we need an ordnance auction site we can use with confidence, don't really care who runs it as long as it works and is good for the sellers and buyers.

Just my two cents...

))))))))) - 100% WRONG.

It's the Buyers prerogative if they use the site or buy an item, regardless if the Sellers are there or not.
If a Buyer cannot find what they want, cannot see an item of interest, cannot navigate the site, cannot bid on an item, doesn't have trust/confidence in the site, etc., then they will and do go elsewhere.
SA and other sites like it only exist because Buyers flock to them. Loose the Buyers and you loose SA.
...SA can have all the Sellers it wants, but if the site turns away the Buyers, then the site and the Sellers go away

Remember... eBay turned away ordnance so SA popped-up to fill the gap (and cash in on the profits from hosting the sales of ordnance).
If SA looses or turns away Buyers then someone else will just pop-up to fill that gap too.

It's all about the Buyers!

staples57 - 100% WRONG.

SA Obtain ALL ITS INCOME via the SELLERS A/c's. They obtain nothing from the buyers. If the sellers are not there, there is nothing for the buyers to purchase. Get real !

Maybe if you had a Masters in Business and Economics like I do and understand how business works then you would be worth listening to. You simply don't know what you are talking about.

LOL... You just don't get it.

It looks like i need to remind some of you of the sites rules regarding this

Extracts quoted from BOCN rules...

Your registration with BOCN automatically implies you agree to abide by these rules

No abusive or disruptive behaviour which includes..

Bullying. This includes comments/attacks against individuals which are likely to cause disruption/upset

Continued breech of the above rules or any other behaviour that is deemed disruptive, offensive etc will result in action being taken against the offending member which could result in a permanent ban from BOCN

Anymore insults or disruptive behaviour will result in closure of this topic

I haven't followed this thread carefully, but just now I after a couple of months tried to log in at SA. With my valid username and password I can no longer log in. I had over 100 positive feedbacks but if this is the way SA works they may for my sake keep their business , it's worse than ebay where I stopped listing long ago - I sell elsewhere.

Gents its getting a bit rough on here now, everyone has there own opinion and beliefs there is no need to insult people for what they think. Yes I am sure some of you know more and have more experience where business, selling and buying are concerned but the best thing about BOCN has been that its a great forum for like minded people to chat and share information its a small world we are involved in and there are plenty of outsiders trying to bugger it up for us without picking at each other.

As for Specialist Auction's the ones who sell on there have made plenty of sales since it has been around when EvilBay stopped selling ammunition and it does seem to me that people have been quick to give SA a lot of grief because its down, We need to chill out and wait for it to get sorted out and back up and running 100%. It is our best option for inert ammunition/munitions at the moment so give them a break.

Perhaps some words of wisdom, to reflect on, that may be appropriate here ......

'you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all of the time'

'Agree to disagree'

As I see it Specialist Auctions doesnt appear to be up and running as yet......although its possible to access the site no-one appears to be able to log in. With this in mind I dont think its really possible to judge the present appearance as surely this 'could' be changed and no doubt would be addressed if numbers of sellers/buyers dropped significantly. I understand the frustration, but at the end of the day its not the only way to sell items......bocn has a classifieds section.

Its true a buyer will only access a site where items are being offered for sale, so in that respect, the Seller, first and foremost, has to use a site; however if one selller chose not to list, another surely will. The buyers will still visit the site, because items are being listed, regardless of the fact if there are two or twenty sellers.

The people who buy are actually the key to the whole thing, after all its their money that supplies 'both' the Seller and the Site itself. No seller will list on a site where no one visits, what's the point? If buyers like a site they will visit, if they visit the site they are likely to spend, if they spend then it equals happy site, happy seller. So therefore in my book buyers are the key....if you want to sell something, no matter what it is, you wont ever sell it if there are no buyers.

This is only 'my' view on things....and will 'agree to disagree' if necessary.

Kev

Well I still like the idea of using classifieds on bocn. There's some good stuff on there if people get into the habit of checking it out :tinysmile_twink_t2:
