Interesting thick rim. Any chance it could be more associated with a riot gun rather than a cannon? With those chunky driving bands, and the fact that it looks heavy, maybe a proof round or a bit of armourer's kit??

no, the rim at the bottom is a transit plug in the fuze well. The plug on top is in the tracer well.
