Well looks like stecol is right, it looks like it without the explosive pouch or detonator connected, worse thing is I saw the training film on it a while ago and still didn't realize what it was.

Is it an OSS/SOE "Anerometer" ?

Stecol has it. It is an OSS barometric firing device that functioned on the drop of atmospheric pressure. Secreted in an aircraft with an explosive charge it was designed to operate at about 1500 feet. The SOE device (designed and manufactured by MD1) was the inspiration for the OSS version, the SOE having asked the US to help with production of their 'altimeter' switch. The US version is said to be a vast improvement over the British design, not least that it worked.

There were two marks of the Anerometer, the photograph shows the Mark II which had better temperature compensation than the Mark I. As Switch said earlier a total of 10612 were procured by the end of WW2 of which 2250 were made for the British.

The object wrapped around the Anerometer in the picture is a tubular flexible container which will hold about a pound of PE. The device takes the M-18 detonator (copy of the ES6 Burster) as used with the AC Delay.

RealMilitaryFlix used to have a training film on this device but I couldn't access it this morning so I cannot post the URL for the film. Hopefully someone else can do that.
