French fuze WW1?

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me in identifying this fuze. It is a 24/31 fit so I assume it is French and WW1 period. It is not centrifugally armed (in my opinion) so that leads me to think it is a mortar fuze. The attached photos show the fuze.

Hello,

it's a french 24/31 mm Mle.1899-1908 percussion fuze (Systeme Robin).

You are right it has no centrifugal safety system but it is still an artillery fuze.

Hi Olif917
I have been looking at the information you have kindly provided. I notice that a version of the 24/31 mm Mle. 1899-1915 percussion fuze (Systeme Robin) shown has a an apparent similarity to the British No. 134 fuze for the Brandt Maurice mortar shell for the Stokes mortar. I wonder if this was a copy of the french fuze (see attached) repurposed for the Stokes mortar?

Draoich

Both the No.134 fuze (for use with 9.45" trench mortar bomb) and No.136 fuze (for use with 3" Stokes trench mortar bomb) were French designs. The attached approval for cast iron adaptor for the No.134 references the French origin.

Hi Snufkin,

Thank you for adding another piece of the puzzle. Incidentally, the No. 134 fuze was also used for the 3 inch mortar bomb (see attached).
