Bd.z.5103 base fuze query

Please see the attached photos of a German WW2 Bd.z.5103 base tracer fuze from a 5cm APC round. What purpose does the aluminium bit serve? Is it a transit cap? This bit can be taken apart as shown.

I don't know. Try looking at the acceptance regulation TL 13/5030 which describes the acceptance and marking of Sprengkapsel P 2 ...

Thank you for this Rigby, I had never seen the aluminium pieces before, normally one only comes across the steel but. I had always assumed that the top end of the steel part held the detonator. Presumably that only held the striker, creep spring and flash pellet?

I think you have the wrong post, this is nothing to do with rockets and IS empty/inert

I assume the translation app used made an error in French to English as the picture in the message indicates his concerns. Some of these apps can be very creative sometimes finding/providing you with the right words.
